Macro Impact Consulting is a partnership between Sigrid Macdonald and Louise Munro offering specialized training that goes beyond Deaf Awareness Training. All content is presented by a Deaf cultural consultant and a hearing professional, in conversation, because this is what “real-life” lived experience really looks like.

What makes our training distinctive?
- Unique: We understand that bridging a cultural divide means modelling cross-cultural collaboration. This is why we present our modules as a conversation between deaf and hearing presenters, with live interpreting and optional captions.
- Holistic and In-Depth Content: We do more than Deaf Awareness Training, and more than a “how-to-work with interpreters”. We widen the lens to expose the everyday systemic barriers faced by deaf and hard-of-hearing people, then we sharpen the focus to show why these are often invisible to the hearing world.
- Multiple perspectives: We understand diversity, we both live it, and we appreciate diverse learning styles. We have curated a number of international perspectives to augment our training and help you find the allyship path for your own lived experience.
- Advocacy: Our modules endorse full language access from birth, device autonomy, flexible identities, collaborative practice, allyship, and cultural attunement.
- This is not DAT: We love Deafness Awareness Training! But what we offer is different. Our work extends on DAT and is delivered Bi-lingually and Bi-culturally. We have a section here that outlines how our modules are significantly different from DAT.

- Lived Experience: Life as a Deaf woman, brings a deep personal understanding to the work.
- Scientific Knowledge: University qualifications in environmental science, that informs advocacy for access and inclusion via understanding systems and diversity.
- Advocacy: Possesses a decade of experience advocating for access and consulting on disability projects.
- Arts and Communication: Integrates a passion for arts and visual communications into her work, serving as an artistic director.
- Education and Facilitation: Skilled in educating diverse audiences and facilitating learning.
- Clinical Expertise: 25 years of professional experience as a registered nurse and a psychologist.
- Academic and Research Skills: Has a PhD on Culturally Affirmative Counselling for Deaf Clients, designs university-level curriculum, and serves as a research reviewer for a number of top tier international journals.
- Specialized Therapeutic Skills: Pioneered a "reflecting team" model of therapy for Deaf and hard-of-hearing clients that targets language deprivation and social cognition
- Auslan Proficiency: Has conversational Auslan skills.
- Psychometric Development: Authored the only validated measure of global functioning for Auslan users.
